Gamma Cygni (Sadr) Region

Sadr is the central star in the northern cross asterism within the constellation Cygnus.  This image, taken on 67 format film, shows a wider field than the 35mm image here.  M29 is the tiny H-shaped (or butterfly-shaped) open cluster about 1/3 from the left edge, near the bottom of the frame.  About 1/3 from the right edge, near the bottom is the bright Crescent Nebula.  Captured at White River Canyon, Mt Hood, Sept. 21, 2004.  Astro-Physics Traveler @ f/6, Pentax 67, E-200, 1hr, normal development.  Larger (1500x1200) version here.    Click on image to return to index.
